Perhaps the invention of the mobile phone is responsible for the overall ease of communications that we enjoy today. The %85 of all the global mobile networks in the world is comprised of GSM Technology. GSM stands for Global System for Mobile Communication. GSM technology is the dominant technology in Europe and in Asia. In the GSM transmission mobile phone signals are sent at either 900 MHz or 1800 MHz frequencies. Almost all of the GSM Networks in the world operate in these frequencies. In the United States, the GSM frequency is 850 MHZ or 1900 Mhz.

With the GSM technology, it has been possible for mobile phones to send SMS (Short Messaging System). Because of the significant advancements that GSM brought, it was called as Level 2 G Technology.

You can also use your mobile phone to send videos, or multimedia messages through the GSM network easily with the new protocols.
